TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC deepens green commitment at Chipa forest reserve

TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC proudly reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability by once again participating in the annual Tree Planting initiative. As part of its long-term reforestation strategy, the company has consistently planted 5,500 trees each year since 2023 to help restore the degraded Chipa Forest in the Greater Accra Region.

This year, a team of 70 employees visited the reforestation site to assess progress and carry out maintenance on previously planted trees. During the visit, the team discovered that 900 trees had been destroyed in a fire, reportedly caused by Fulani herdsmen. In swift response, the damaged trees were replanted, and additional care was provided to support the health and survival of the remaining forest.

To safeguard the forest and prevent future incidents, TotalEnergies has partnered with the Forestry Commission to help manage herdsmen activities and protect the reforested area. A representative from the Commission addressed the team, underscoring the vital role of tree planting in building a greener, more resilient future. He emphasized how initiatives like this contribute to climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and long-term environmental stewardship.

The session also featured a hands-on demonstration of proper planting techniques, equipping participants with practical skills to enhance seedling survival rates.

TotalEnergies expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Forestry Commission for their ongoing technical support, and to all staff members whose dedication continues to drive the success of the project.

This initiative is a cornerstone of TotalEnergies Ghana’s broader environmental strategy, focused on restoring forest cover and promoting sustainable practices. In alignment with this vision, the company remains committed to planting 5,500 trees annually, contributing to a greener, healthier planet one tree at a time.
