OUR SAFETY CULTURE

Safety is a critical deliverable and is of paramount importance across TEMG-PLC operations and facilities. We always strive to remain vigilant and focused to ensure sustainable safety performance. For us, Safety is more than just a priority: it is a core value. Based on this mindset, TEMG-PLC has set the HSE objective of being recognized as the benchmark for safety in our industry.

At TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana , safety is considered both an individual as well as a collective responsibility. TEMG-PLC management is committed to providing all possible resources to build a strong safety culture. The basics of our Safety Culture are:

Golden Rules

Golden Rules are the guidelines that are to be applied and followed by everyone in all situations in order to improve the management of risks related to our activities. 12 Golden Rules are written as a series of “musts” and “must not’s”: in all, a set of 50 instructions that all TotalEnergies employees and contractors must comply with.

Stop Card

“Step up, step in for everyone’s safety”

TEMG-PLC believes that all accidents are preventable through shared vigilance. For this we use the Stop Card at TEMG-PLC. The Stop Card is a tool that gives all TPG-PLC employees and contractors the authority to step in and stop ongoing work if they feel that an action or situation is unsafe or could lead to an accident. The Stop Card provides everyone the means to intervene and encourages taking of action.

Safety Moment

At TEMG-PLC, we start every event (meetings, conferences etc.) with a safety moment. The safety moment is brief safety tip based on personal experience, best practices or observed unsafe situations that can prove to be beneficial for the audience.

Transport Safety

TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana strives to do things differently while transporting its products across the country. Safety of our fleet and other road users remain our top priority while transporting products. For this purpose, we deliver our products using a fleet which is compliant with TotalEnergies' international transport standard (known as PATROM). The trucks are installed with state-of-the-art technology and are being monitored 24/7 by a Vehicle Tracking System. Driver behaviour and fatigue is managed by ensuring proper rest hours and monitoring driving times.

Retail Safety

To protect Health, Safety and the surrounding Environment at Retail stations, TEMG-PLC has set out the HSE requirements at its Retail stations called “invariants”. The invariants constitute “barriers” intended to prevent the existence of hazardous situations. They relate both to service station equipment and infrastructure. In addition, TEMG-PLC has implemented the “Safety Leader Program” to supervise and coordinate all HSE related activities at Retail Stations thus extending our safety culture to the entire retail network.

Depot Safety

All TEMG-PLC fuel depots as well as our Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) are built with state-of-the-art infrastructure to ensure safe storage, loading and delivery of petroleum products. Our facilities are compliant with TotalEnergies’ international safety standards and all applicable local regulations. We are maintaining ISO certifications at our facilities to guarantee standardized operations and consistent quality of products and services while having minimal impact on the environment.

Contractor Management

At TEMG-PLC, contractors and suppliers are assessed and selected by considering their HSE performance, their ability to conform to the TEMG-PLC’s HSEQ policy and their capacity to manage the risks inherent to the activities to be undertaken. TPGL pays foremost attention on the capacity building of its contractors in regard. In fact, Total Ghana has introduced “Safety Passport Holder Program” and “Safety Management System Training” which enables contractors to upgrade their internal HSE management systems and better supervise high risk activities.
