TotalEnergies And Societe-General Ghana Champion Ocean Sustainability With ‘Move for Ocean’ Clean-Up Drive
In a powerful show of environmental stewardship, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC and Societe-Generale Ghana recently joined forces for a coastal clean-up exercise at Kumasamba La Bamba Beach in Accra.
Dubbed “Move for Ocean”, the event rallied SG Ghana and TotalEnergies employees, local residents, and Environmental NGO, Plastic Punch Ghana, to tackle coastal pollution—supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 and 13, focused on clean water and climate action.
Volunteers gathered at dawn to clear large volumes of plastic waste, fishing nets, and debris along the shoreline. The initiative is part of TotalEnergies and SG Ghana’s broader ESG commitment to curb plastic pollution and nurture resilient marine ecosystems.
The day included an engaging educational session led by an environmental expert, spotlighting the rising threat of marine plastic—projected to grow by 190% by 2040 without action. SG Ghana also shared its wider sustainability efforts, from cutting internal emissions to planting trees and delivering clean water initiatives.
A standout feature was the installation of a permanent ‘FishBin’ waste collector on the beach—promoting long-term responsible waste disposal. From reusable water bottles to biodegradable refreshment packaging, every detail reflected a commitment to eco-conscious practices.
