LIVING TOGETHER IN PEACE: NSAWAM PRISON OUTREACH
On 22 May 2026, in commemoration of the International Day of Living Together in Peace and as part of our Action! initiative, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC, in partnership with United Way Ghana, undertook a meaningful outreach to Nsawam Prison.
A team of 20 volunteers (16 staff members and 4 station managers) engaged directly with inmates across the facilities. At the Female Facility, home to 108 inmates, every inmate took part in the engagement. At the Male Facility, which houses over 3,500 inmates, interactions were held with 100 selected inmates, including the aged and those in the sick ward.
While essential items were donated to support daily needs, the highlight of the visit was the interactive engagement sessions
Volunteers took turns leading discussions, sharing messages of hope, discipline, and second chances, and responding to questions from inmates. These sessions took the form of open forums and motivational talks, creating a safe and welcoming space for inmates to express themselves.
These interactions fostered genuine connection where inmates were not just spoken to, but actively listened to, encouraged, and valued. Moments of reflection, dialogue, and even laughter brought a strong sense of humanity and inclusion.
The outreach was rounded off with the serving of hot meals, reinforcing the spirit of care and shared humanity.
This impactful visit reaffirmed a simple truth: living together in peace begins with empathy, dignity, and meaningful human connection.
